The Eco Fascists Have Arrived

Imagine the scene. Your name is Hans Meier. The year is 2020. Your successful new company allows you to buy the latest German built innovation with competing models from France and America all vying for your attention. You accelerate to the recommended speed and start the nav computer calculating your flight window into low Earth orbit. In a few seconds you confirm the flight and as you lift off the tarmac the wheels are pulled up snugly into their bays. The windscreen is replaced with the flight HUD and you begin your ascent to the recently opened orbital hotel. It has been up there for a few years but had to complete all the safety requirements before accepting traffic. As you wonder at the view of Earth, the nav computer requests docking clearance and you look forward to exploring the new orbital hotel that you’ve heard so much about.

Enough future wow’ness to have you guffawing in your cornflakes ? .. Maybe. We live in this world now though. Maybe 2020 is an optimistic date for such a scenario, but search the internet and you’ll find a number of flight capable cars in production now. International air traffic authorities are working on a system to allow the safe passage of such small scale (as in small vehicles) traffic.

So why is Al Gore being the ultimate kill joy ? Germany is currently resisting calls for a speed limit on German autobahns after calls from the Social Democrat party … inspired by a speech by Al Gore (according to The Independent , here in the UK, anyway). For a start I don’t think it’s even proven that speed limits reduce pollution. Patch a few scenarios through some traffic simulation software and B does not always follow from A.

But here we see the pattern from, not just Al Gore, but from many other environmentalists. “Don’t do that”… “Dont do this”…”Guilt, guilt, guilt!”. Marching around like a load of tin pot dictators who have completely misunderstood human behaviour. People rarely respond to the negative. What about what we CAN do AND be environmental ? These people seem to be determined to depress us into the ice age, er, sorry, I mean the warm age… or do I ?

I still think an international effort should be setup to look at a replacement for oil/petrol and the petrol engine. There are good signs. Hybrid cars. Electric Cars. Alternative fuels, but it seems scattered and faddish if you ask me.

Tell people what CAN happen if we take the precautionary principle and keep things clean. We have a rapidly developing Space Age. The Shuttle. A magnificent Space Station in orbit. Rarely do I hear ecologists harping on about these extraordinary human achievements. Sometimes I wonder, if secretly. they want to shut the whole game down, planetary exploration probes and everything ! As readers here will know I threw my ecologist magazine across the room the other day. Just today I noticed this leaflet had fallen out of it…

“IS THIS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO READ THE TRUTH?”

Warning: The Government is clamping down on freedom of speech so fast that Vernon Coleman’s book, Living In A Fascist Country may be the last chance you’ll ever get to read the truth about what is happening – and why.”

It contains such gems as …

“Sending Tanks To Heathrow: How And Why Politicians Have Learned To Use Fear As A Weapon.”

I won’t go on. Every statement in it is loaded with fear and paranoia. Playing on people’s worries about identity cards or the War in Iraq. Sure, there are problems, but this lovely leaflet that dropped out of my Ecologist just epitomises their whole attitude for me. Capitalism is the Ultimate Sin. The Space Age is the Ultimate Capitalistic Excess. These people live in the Ice Age ! When they read this they will no doubt think I’ve turned into some right wing purple Wart Hog. Oh grow up ! I hope you get to this sentence: while simultaneously supporting Capitalism (and yes it does have it’s dark side) I want to see endangered species protected. All species. I want to see us take steps to protect our atmosphere and help the impoverished of the world (that dark side of Capitalism). I DON’T want to see Ecologists throw up a new enemy of the people where there isn’t one. I want them to see what drives people and how that can be worked with to make the world a better place.

Team America: World Police on Autopilot

US imposes sanctions on Iran

I guess some people don’t watch NASA TV. They aren’t so inspired by the developing Space Age that they realise that old Earth-Centric ways of doing things are beginning to look rather outdated.

Some people think that monolithic, brute force ways of doing things are still valid, even though the only time that last worked was D-Day WW2.

Give ‘em all a copy of the latest violent military video game, that’s what I say. Put in models of Osama Bin Laden, or, even better the President of Iran and let them at ‘em ! I think this is what this is all about, is’nt it ? Some people want to play at being World Policeman and have some darn good rabble raising fun as part of the action. Unfortunately they seem to be following a video game someone is piping into their “full spectrum” soldier computer visualisation head set.

The following in game screenshots are from the video game Breed“.

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Wake up guys!

Maybe after 911 there was a shred … oh a little shred of a reason, for a military response, but now. We need another way.

“So tell us Barney”… I can hear them say. “Tell us what this other way is if you’re so intelligent”.

Well, I’ll tell you what … I don’t know ! If I did then I’d be employed by the Pentagon … right ? (Wait a moment … checks CV). But CRIPES! If we can put Shuttle’s and Space Stations in orbit, then we can as sure as HELL work out how to deal with a country like Iran … or even an administration in the USA who won’t listen to advice.

Go on guys. Be a chump. Take a risk !

Addenum: I was just listening to the BBC Radio 4 news about this and we got a perfect mixed message from the US administration…

“The US is fully committed to diplomacy …”.

Than…

” … but the time for diplomacy is over.”.

Read: “My office is always open” as someone said (I didn’t get the names unfortunately) …”..as long as you agree to all OUR terms 100%”.

There you go … there’s your diplomacy.

Climate Change Log Jam

Balls! The Climate Change debate is dead. You know why… the problem is US. We can’t seem to find the maturity to debate this issue like adults without reaching for all the most aggravating words we can find to upset everyone. Western countries “that have already industrialised and are imposing their will on less industrialised nations”. Talk about dragging up a side of the issue so contentious that it involves racism, exploitation and hypocrisy, all at the same time !

What about the oft heard retort from some quarters of “how dare you ask me to change my lifestyle”.Youtube videos are produced showing how the Sun is heating up anyway … so everything MUST be OK.

You see, now I’m doing it. Why does this issue seem to be such a rats nest of every contentious issue ever invented by Man ?

Well, here is my attempt to cut to the chase …

Climate change has NOTHING to do with the Sun, CO2, O2, factories, forests, or oceans, or climate models, or ANY of that.

The “problem” is US.

We fail to talk in HOLISTIC ways about our home planet. The debate always seems to try and pin down one cause, or one approach. We’re going to spend from now until the end of time on that debate ! Like our own minds and brains, a lot of what we call consciousness or a “Gaian” planetary system is “emergent” behaviour arising out of a complex system. A fancy Scientific term for “actually we don’t know”.

Maybe we should take drastic action anyway on climate change, in my opinion. What happened to the precautionary principle ? With the help of the countries that encompass them, protect the Amazon, African and Asian rain forests forever as international bioreserves.

If we can start building plans for a return to the moon (NASA’s “Constellation“) then why ON EARTH can’t we put together an international project to find a replacement for the petrol engine AND apply it’s use without ruining oil based economies ? We can spend from here to eternity debating if that’s the right approach. To me it would seem to be a common sense place to start and then other things will follow.

It’s about time we get our act together … properly this time.

I Threw my Ecologist Magazine Across the Room.

So the Aluminium industry is out to destroy the wilderness. Average joe holiday maker and business traveller is an evil conspiracy to destroy the Planet. Gordon Brown makes statements about Global Warming and then gives the go ahead for another runway … gosh … we’ve never heard this before, have we ? Political double standards, lies. Oh come on guys.

I appreciate the intentions … but the road to hell is paved with good intentions. You say that terrorism worries are unjustified at a Heathrow protest because you are all “nice people”. Believe me, some of the “nice’est” people can be the worst walking disaster zones. Grow up.

You throw up industries as “evil”. You slander the average working man as some kind of Death Star like planet destroyer ! Have you tried communicating with these people ? You might find they are trying their best in a difficult system. You might find that the Aluminium bussiness men or investors might actually want to clean up their act …. if they’re not getting angry because you slate them as “bad people”.

Come on guys, give ya best. Rejoin us and we’ll rejoin you. United we stand !

Star Wars Synched to Dave Clark Whitenoise Radio Show.

Here’s my Star Wars VJ video. Put your player in repeat and watch this a few times :D

MPG video. ( Music source. )

God. what I could do with some amped up mixing desk, say with a few DVD’s to hand that can be dubbed together live. Mind you, I’d have to have setup a company to buy the copyright for live performance on say, Star Wars, and … hey….. hang on a moment!

The Battlefield of the Mind

I play “violent” computer games, although only a few pixels ever seem to get hurt. I’ve heard Star Wars criticised for being full of endless battles that have to get bigger and bigger. I wrestle with my inner desire to wake up and become something of value in my life, that is often thwarted by a sort of willful sleepyness that I can’t quite stop myself thinking is delibertely imposed on myself … by myself … LOL!

So it was with some revelation that I came back to something that I came across years ago, but then somehow “forgot” ;) .

“As already said, when we take stock of the inner conflict, we identify with both sides. Thinking that if they are dissolved or destroyed “we” will cease to exist, we are appalled and feel that our very existence is threatened. Then, like all human beings who do not like the truth when they see or hear it, we become “confused” and try to avoid the unpleasant prospect. Bitter as death seems the inner battle, so we shrink from it and desperately try to find a way out.

So does Arjuna. In a lengthy and impassioned monologue he presents to Krishna his “confusion,” which is really a plea to inaction, to avoidance of conflict, thinking that such a negative condition is peace, whereas peace is a positive state, not the mere absence of unrest and conflict. It is also reached only through unrest and conflict, however little we like the fact.” Baghavad Gita Commentary.

Once I can understand that the Lord of the mind is the “True Self” and that transformation will not annihilate me then things should calm down. Hinduism is maybe a bit alien to the Western mind as well, so I don’t look to deeply at it … yet. As a Gnostic I can see the parallels with Christianity… “Believe in the Lord and you will be saved”. There are also the temptations and seductions of the “Devil”. The contortions and denials that the self goes through to avoid the Truth. Not wanting to see other people sufferring, not because I really sympathise with them, but because it makes ME feel bad. Me, me, me! My self love (oo er!) blinds me to what is really going on. The real deceptive nature of ego-involvement–addiction, so parroted in the West, Ego this, Ego that ! Do I really understand what it means, or has even that turned into yet ANOTHER way for the Ego to avoid things ? I see now how truly deceptive and sort of intelligent that “Monkey Mind” really is. Maybe it’s quite impressive, but it can be dangerous !

So what I thought was some “weird” thing going on in my mind is actually WELL known about. It has been written about in many different cultures and especially in the Bhagavad Gita, so it seems.
